Industrial Communication Protocol Trainer

Description

Protocol plays a major role in device to device or device to controller communication in an industry scenario. The versatility of these protocols depends on ease, speed, and accuracy of data accessibility. This setup is designed to understand communication principle of most commonly used industrial protocols such as Wireless, HART, MODBUS (RTU, ASCII), and Profibus. The setup consists of a Temperature + flow process trainer fitted with temperature and flow transmitters with HART communication to measure temperature and flow. A family of controllers, converters and DAQ board as listed below is provided along with necessary banana socket connectors.

• ACE 2007, Wireless DAQ Board
• Siemens 1212C PLC with expansion module
• Siemens Communications Module CM 1242-5 with Profibus connector
• Digigate Modbus to Profibus Converter with Profibus DP Protocol
• Delta DTB9696B PID controller
• Novus HART Configuration Interface

The heater supply is controlled by the controller by means of a solid-state relay (SSR) and the flow is controlled by the control value connected with the I/P converter. These units along with necessary piping and fitting are mounted in support housing designed as table top model. The controller unit is connected to computer for monitoring and controlling the process.
